About this Hotel

Price From $99

’Hood George Washington University gives Foggy Bottom that old college-town feel despite its city business-district setting. The leafy campus is fringed by restaurants, watering holes, and small pockets of green space often populated by students and staffers from some of the world’s most prestigious institutions. The smart set also pops up at the nearby Kennedy Center, the local temple of culture. Dupont Circle is three blocks away.

The Vibe The streamlined, modern design is playful, not pretentious, with an attitude that’s more embracing than intimidating. In other words, go ahead and play hopscotch on the polka-dot carpeting or grab seconds of the citrus-infused water in the lobby—you’ll be encouraged, not judged.

Rooms The all-suite hotel was an apartment building in the 1970s, and the 151 catalogue-comfort rooms retain that homey feel. Everything you need is behind the door: full kitchen with coffee grinder and whole beans, 32-inch LCD TV on a wheelie stand, and pullout sofa for crashers. VIP rooms also come stocked with a candy dish filled with chocolate kisses and coins. You don’t even have to leave your pad to go outside: Simply step out on the balcony and lean your face toward the sun.

Plus Circle Bistro, accessible through the hotel, feeds the people three times a day (minus Saturday lunch) and does drink specials. Room service features an abbreviated version of the restaurant’s full menu of contemporary American cuisine with French accents. In warmer months, splash around in the pool or watch the aquatic action from waterside tables and chairs. The fitness center never closes. To avoid wasted toiletries, the hotel stocks the shower with wall-mounted, refillable pump-tops.

Minus The ambulances from George Washington University Hospital, across the circle from the hotel, add to the din of traffic. Robes are complimentary, but only available on request.

Free Wi-Fi? Yes.

Credit Cards Accepted: AmEx, Discover, MC, Visa.
