Ask Trip Coach: Ski Vacations

Too early to think about skiing? Perhaps. But planning ahead truly gives you the best chance at doing a ski trip right.

Skiing is often thought of as an expensive sport, but it doesn't have to be that way. Last winter, for instance, many resorts offered phenomenal deals to attract skiers and boarders out to the slopes in what was a tough, recession-dampened season. This winter may very well shape up the same way.

How do you find the best ski trip deals?

How can you separate a good deal from a gimmick?

What resorts are right for big groups, or couples, or families, or party-goers?

How can you pay less for everything from lift tickets, to condos, to gear rentals, to après-ski cocktails?

What does ski-resort lingo such as "ski-in, ski-out" really mean?

How can kids ski, and in some cases even fly, for free?

Whether you're a novice still hesitant on the bunny slopes or you live for the black diamonds, whether you're a telemarker or a knuckle-dragger, whether you prefer deep powder or smoothly groomed cruising runs, fire away all of your ski-related questions.

We'll do our best to answer them and to supply our most sensible tips and suggestions in an upcoming issue of Budget Travel.
